Yesterday as I was saving a presentation on powerpoint 97, after making a
small adjustment in font to my already saved presentation, my computer
stalled. I ended up having to do a hard reboot and then a norton check of my
system to restart it. When I came back to open the file called teenhealt1.ppt
the power point program would not open it and gave this error message.
Powerpoint cant open the file represented by teenhealth.ptt. I have tried
many things, rebooting again, looking for bak and bka files, tried opening it
in word and a doc file(all that appeared was jibberish). I also tried opening
it in windows office XP 2002. Nothing works. The file is there but it wont
open. It appears to start opening by the progress slide at the bottom of the
screen then the error message starts up. Anyone know anything I can try. I
also tried downloading a powerpoint fix file, which of course didnt make any
difference. This presentation is important and any help anyone can give me
would be much appreciated.

You may be able to recover the file, you may not. First, check the ideas in
this entry from Steve Rindsberg's PPT FAQ:
Recovering a corrupt presentation

Then, to prevent it from killing you when it happens again, check out Shyam
Pillai's free Sequential Save add-in which is available here:
