I am using PP 2002 and have some 180+ PP templates in the template directory
in the MS Office Folder. However when I ask the program to format slide
design I only get access to a small quantity of the templates. what can I do
to get access to all the templates via the PP program?

Several possibilities here:

- Choose Format, Slide Design then look at the very bottom of the Slide Design
task pane; click the Browse link and browse to where your templates are stored
and choose the template you want.

- If the template you want doesn't appear when you do the above, it might be
because it was created in an older version of PowerPoint. In that case, choose
File, Open and open it as though it were a regular PPT file. Then choose File,
Save As, Files of Type: Presentation Designs (*.pot) and save it. Put the
saved file in whatever folder PPT offers as the default. Then try applying the
design as above.
