PowerPoint project - Kiosk?

Hi all! - PPT 2002XP - Win XP Pro w/SP2

I am going to try to create a PPT presentation for a promotional project, to
be played at Expo's and Conferences. I am not sure if the kiosk is the best
or preferred method, or if there is a better way. There will be no music,
mostly just slides that transition one from another. But, I want it to be a
repeat run.

I have never done this kind of project in PPT and I am not sure how to
proceed. Thus, I would truly appreciate it if there is a tutorial or
samples of how to do this, someone would please point me in the right
direction. I just need to know where best to start.

There really isn't a need to run it as a KIOSK if all you have is an
automatically transitioned presentation that loops. Set the timed
animations of objects on each slide, then set the Slide transitions to occur
automatically after "x" seconds, click "Slide Show", "Set up show", and
check the "Loop continuously until ESC" option. Once started, it will
continue animating/transitioning/looping until you press the ESCAPE key.

All a KIOSK option does for you is take away the ability to just click to go
to the next show. You MUST provide navigation buttons for KIOSKs (like at
trade Shows, EXPOs, etc.). A KIOSK will automatically go back to Slide 1
after 5 minutes of inactivity, but since yours is a timed presentation, you
don't want that.

Great! Thank you! I am Asst. to the Chairman of the Events committee and
newly elected Secretary of the Fauquier Technology Alliance here in
Virginia.. We are planning some promotional exhibits and I want to add some
PowerPoint projects to our arsenal. I'm great with getting the ideas, then
suddenly realizing I don't know how to do something. Fortunately, I have a
great group here to help me sort it out.

I have some fonts that I created in Corel Draw and made them graphics (png,
jpeg, bmp) and not sure which would work best in PPT. I want them to be
animated separately. Any suggestions on this one?

From what I have learned and read, I would order the preference types as
follows: PNG, JPEG, then BMP. This based on clarity versus file size
required for this clarity.

Others may have different thoughts.

Only slightly. BMP will get converted to PNG when you import it into PPT, so
PNG vs BMP is a non-issue except that PNG supports transparency, which might be
important.

JPG for text, maybe if it's real real big. Otherwise, nah.

True, the transparency would be an important issue. I am not sure yet what
all will be added to the slides, but, it could be that there will be a
webpage background graphic and then the transparancy would indeed come into
play. So...it might be best to plan for the png to start with? My main
concern other than that is clarity, which would also be an important factor.

I'd go with the png thng then, Jan. (How's that for a bumper ... er ... BMPer
sticker: Thng PNG)?
