Producer can be used to provide timed display of a ppt presentation for web
deployment ( with no audio or video) if that is what you want.

It can be downloaded here:

ok i understand that producer is for web based productions. but this is my
question? is there a program like producer but for regular PP that does not
use web i like the timeline feature in producer and the audio file

Well the web designation implies an tcp/ip network or a stand alone machine
(at least that is what I intended) with the "viewer application" being the
browser.

I really don't know what the meaning of "don't need web" in this context.

What you need to view the producer output is a browser and access to the
production -- could be over a tcp/ip network or on a local hard disk or CD
drive.

Is that what you want?

so there is nothing like the producer htat i can use in pp 2003 that lets me
use the timeline feature to make pp and to input audio like producer does

"In pp 2003" -- I don't think there is a feature that can be used directly
from ppt menus that allows the kind of timeline control and audio/video
integration that Producer does. The tool with that kind of facility is
Producer.

PPT does offer other options for creation of ppt productions with audio or
video -- one of them is the Presentation Broadcast facility
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...34-602D-4A96-9AE9-6583E0EBDA9E&displaylang=en).
Nothing other than Producer afaik allows the audio/video editing/timeline
functionality.

Producer does integrate directly with PPT 2003 and 2002 -- offering the kind
of facility that I think you want ( or from what I can tell anyway). Why is
"in pp 2003" an issue?

Update or Service Pack 1 for Office 2003 as soon as possible. From
PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for Updates".]

[TOP ISSUE - Are you having difficulty opening presentations in PowerPoint

Hello,

PowerPoint doesn't try to be a multimedia authoring tool, so it doesn't
support the kind of timing/synchronization (with presentation long
timeline) that, perhaps, you are looking for. For example, with media, it
can only synchronize the BEGINNING of the media to another event. It can't
control the beginning of other events based on how many seconds of a media
file has been played.

If some kind of more deterministic, system independent, multimedia
synchronization with animations and transitions is important to you (or
anyone else reading this message) for Microsoft to consider for some future
version of PowerPoint (or if it's not possible, perhaps features within
PowerPoint to help you avoid trying to sychronize something that we can't
guarantee will always be synchronized), so you don't have to attempt to
exporting to other formats (movies, producer, shockwave flash, etc.), which
would result is some loss of formatting and/or fidelity, don't forget to
send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft by either:

PREFERRED METHOD:

A) If you are using Microsoft's web-based, online newsreader for Office
communities
(http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/default.mspx?dg=microsoft.p
ublic.powerpoint), check to see whether or not the suggestion has been
submitted before (Show -> Suggestions for Microsoft) and, if so, add your
vote to the suggestion submission. If the suggestion has not been submitted
before, click on the "New" drop-down menu and choose "Suggestion for
Microsoft" from directly within the newsreader web page.

OR, NEXT BEST METHOD:

B) If you are using another newsreader (such as Microsoft Outlook Express),
submit your suggestion using your web browser at the following address:
http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

It's VERY important that, for EACH wish, you describe in detail, WHY it is
important TO YOU that your product suggestion be implemented. A good wish
submssion includes WHAT scenario, work-flow, or end-result is blocked by
not having a specific feature, HOW MUCH time and effort ($$$) is spent
working around a specific limitation of the current product, etc. Remember
that Microsoft receives THOUSANDS of product suggestions every day and we
read each one but, in any given product development cycle, there are ONLY
sufficient resources to address the ones that are MOST IMPORTANT to our
customers so take the extra time to state your case as CLEARLY and
COMPLETELY as possible so that we can FEEL YOUR PAIN.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
