Powerpoint Hyperlinks disappearing

Hi
I've created a small presetation (35 slides), with a contents page, most of
the hyperlinks on this page work, but there are 6 that hyperlink to slides
that i've imported from another presentation that do not work. When I try to
add a hyperlink, the 'add hyperlin' window doesn't even show a preview of the
offending slides. Has anyone come across this before, I'm using Powerpoint
XP. This isn't the first time this has happened to me...

Thanks for your response, however, neither of these sites point me in the
right direction. It's almost as if the slides don't exist, it makes no
difference where I put the hyperlink to these slides, they do not appear in
the preview window, and the hyperlinks don't work. I'd be really grateful
for any further suggestions...

Okay, I got a few questions to try and diagnose this problem:

1. Are all of these slides in the same presentation (did you do a "Insert",
"Slides From File"?

2. If you go to Slide Sorter View can you see all the slides?

3. What are you assigning the hyperlink action to (a button, text, etc.)?

4. Have you tried right-clicking the hyperlink object (text box or button),
selecting "Action Settings", seeing if the "Hyperlink to" action setting is
correct? If you check this one and it doesn't show the right slide, click
the dropdown, select "Slide", choose the desired slide, and "OK" your way
out.

Holler back with results.

Hi Bill
1. Yes, these were done using Insert slides from file"
2. Yes all slides are visible on Slide Sorter view
3. The hyperlink is assigned to text in a table using Insert Hyperlink from
the Insert menu.
4. Using right click does not display action settings as this is text
within a table.

Just want to clarify that it does work in the table on the other hyperlinks
to other slides in the file.

Hi Bill, look no further, I found the answer from your previous help.
Although I couldn't right click for the action settings, I highlighted the
text and then went to Action Settings on the Slide Show drop down Menu and
was able to fix it from there. Thanks so much, saved my life (OK, a bit of
overstatement there but I'm really grateful!).

No prob. Glad it worked. That is one of the problems with assigning
hyperlinks to text. You have to make sure the same item is highlighted to
get access to the link in Action Settings. That is why it is sometimes
better to draw a rectangle over the text, assign the action setting as
described earlier, then change the fill and color of the rectangle to
"none". This puts a transparent box over your text providing the hyperlink.
Only real downside to this option is others (or you later) need to remember
the hidden object is there!
