Sure. Take your wallet down to BestBuy, CompUSA, or Staples and buy a
copy of PowerPoint. Or, go to Microsoft.com and look there for where to
buy it online. I perosnally use mwave.com.

PowerPoint is a commercial (for sale) application program. It runs under
Windows XP Home (as well as other versions of Windows) but it is not part of
and has nothing to do with Windows XP.

Just as with any other commercial application program, you can buy a copy of
it at many local stores or online at many web sites. You can buy PowerPoint
either alone, or as part of Microsoft Office.

Alternatively, if you just want to view existing PowerPoint presentations,
but not create or modify them yourself, you can download and install the
free Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer at

If you are strapped for cash, there is a freeware clone of Powerpoint in
Star Office.

I'm not sure that "clone" is the right word, since as I understand it, it's
similar to, but not identical to PP itself, but yes, it's an alternative
that could be considered.

I accept your point. Near-clone is a better phrase. The animation module,
poor in Powerpoint, is a disaster in Star Office.

I will just say that the video support in Powerpoint 2003 is stupidly
kludged in and embarrassing. Will someone make it work with the majority of
Codecs please? Can we have a REAL update?

Certainly.

1) Go to store/shop that sells computer software.

2) Purchase the PowerPoint, or the Microsoft Office productivity suite.

3) Return home.

4) Insert installation CD in PC's CD drive and follow the on-screen
prompts and instructions to install application and desired additional
features.

For the budget-minded (who also don't need all of PowerPoint's
specific features), there's the free, open source OpenOffice:

http://www.openoffice.org/

If all you need is to view PowerPoint-produced files, there's a free
viewer available:
