PowerPoint crash

Using Powerpoint version 2002

Files all created in version 2002

Using: Windows XP Service Pack 2

Description of problem:

When I do this: copy sildes from one presentation to another

Here's what happens I get an error dialog box that reads: "There was an
error accessing . " (The period is part of the error message)

I choose OK to close out the error box and then PowerPoint crashes.

Here's what I've already tried to solve the problem: I have reinstalled
PowerPoint, applied any and all hotfixes

I get the same problem with one of my powerpoint file. It cannot be
opened by the powerpoint 2002 program, however it can be viewed by the
powerpoint viewer 2003. I really wonder to know if there is any way to
save my slides in it.
