I have students who are creating a powerpoint about themselves using 20-30
pictures, adding music to fit the powerpoint. After several are done and
they try to open the saved file it says "The file may be corrupt, in use, or
of a type not recognized by PowerPoint."

Any suggestions or software to reopen this? The students have spent a lot
of time doing this.

Thank you.

Are they saving their files to floppy disks? This is usually what we hear from
students/teachers with corrupt files. PowerPoint does not save to floppies in a
safe manner and frequently your files will be corrupted. ALWAYS save to a
location on the hard drive and then copy to a floppy using Windows Explorer.
