PowerPoint Attachments

I have onr computer in our office that refuses to open a
PowerPoint attachment in any way than as a slide show.
Does any one know how to fix this problem?
 
How is this related to Outlook and what is the file extension on the PPT
file?

the SWEN virus, all mail sent to my personal account will be deleted
without reading.
