Powerpoint 2003 crashes each time I try to run an mpeg file that I've
inserted into a presentation. Anybody have this problem or know how to fix
it?

I've had the problem of PowerPoint hanging when I insert a particular MPG and I
understand that it is somehow related to Windows XP SP 2. The work around is to
convert the MPG to AVI or WMV.

Your problem sounds different because you say it crashes when you try to play
it. Are you getting any message? Are you playing it in Normal mode or Slide
Show mode?

Sonia,
This happens both in normal mode and slide show. The error message is the
standard 'Microsoft PPT has encountered an error and must close...". I tried
inserting a wmv file and it worked fine. I supose I can use the work around
and convert my mpegs. Would rather have it work correctly though.

If you didn't send a report, please run it again and this time send the report.
Microsoft watches closely for these reports and that's how they identified the
problem I experienced.

I have found that Blaze MediaConvert does an excellent job of converting both
audio and video. There is also a 15 day trial available.
