Power Users Group

I wonder if anyone can help me with this problem on which
I did get some advice as detailed below. Unfortunately
this seems to have come to a bit of a standstill and I
wonder if anyone can revive it a little for me.

The previous postings were:

Thank you for your prompt response to my enquiry to the
Microsoft News group. It was indeed helpful. I located
the Power Users as you advised and added the new user to
that group.

However I then started to get into difficulty.

When I looked at "User Accounts" through the Control
Panel the new user was shown as having "Unknown account
type" and when I went further to try and use an Access
application I was told I only had "Read Only" authority -
the same that I get when accessing from a user with
a "Limited Account" account type.

I have tried all the different variations I can think of
to get round this without success. I wonder if I could
trespass on your goodwill by asking if you had any
suggestions. I will be very grateful for any help. With

Right Click on My Computer and select Manage
expand Local Users and Groups
add the user here
right click the new user, select properties
on the Member of tab add the user to the Power Users group

Greetings:

Try changing user account to power users group trough Start\Run\control
userpasswords2\select user account and go to Properties button\then to
Groups membership\open the drop-down window and change to desired group.
You may have to change the password to activate the account, do it in the
Users tab\select user\change the password in restore passwords button.
I had a problem similar to yours with a new power user account, that account
could not access the computer with the established password untill I changed
it and coincidently it also happened with a freshly installed XP
Professional Operating System...
