Power scheme quits working

I'm wondering if anyone has problems with their power scheme working fine for a while and then one morning finding your computer fan running and the green light on the power button lit one morning. For some reason my comp quits going into standby mode.

Same here. I have 2 PCs running Windows XP Home. They have SP1 and all security updates.

The power management feature is completely unreliable. I like for my computers to go into standby if left idle for more than an hour. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I have even manually entered standby at night only to find them lit up in the morning (powered on) just as you describe. It's frustrating.
