I have windows xp home. I need the use of power point for
college classes. Can I download any microsoft power point
packages onto my home edition of xp.

You can get the free PowerPoint viewer from Microsoft if you don't need to
edit presentations. Otherwise, you have to buy it as a standalone product or
as part of the Office suite as it is not a part of the Windows OS.

NO. You must purchase a license. See your lib about an educational
version - if PP is required, the school knows how to get them.

No. PowerPoint is commercial software for sale and is not legally
available for download.

You can buy a copy of PowerPoint, either alone, or a part of
Microsoft Office at your local software store or at many places
on the web.

Check your college bookstore for the academic version of Office 2003
or Office XP. Much reduced in price and also comes with Word and
Excel in addition to PowerPoint.

Or, you can download the free Open Office at www.openoffice.org

Note - the download is rather large so if you do not have a broadband
connection you might want to use a download manager.

PowerPoint is a separate retail product and is also a part of MS Office.

You can only download a PowerPoint viewer free.

AS you are a student, you could qualify to purchase an Educational version
of Office/PowerPoint, thru your school (???).
