Power Failure After Certain Time

I am having issues with my PC shutting down after being on for only 2-3
hours. I can hear the PC's power supply making a distinctive click two or
three times, like when it is trying to power down. The mouse remains
functional in Windows XP for a short while, but then fails. Windows locks up
and I have hold down the power button to force the system off. I have
checked the BIOS and found that settings pertaining to automatic shutdown at
a given temperature are set to DISABLED. I reason that something in Windows
is likely behind this or that me and Raidmax need to have a little chat.
Anyone out there have this issue and how can I diagnose this problem?

Firstly, it's NOT a power failure as YOU are turning off the power.

It may be caused by over heating. Remove the side cover and blow a small fan
into the case. Does it still happen? Are all the fans you can see, including
the ones in the power supply spinning?

You don't give an awful lot to go on.

I also have a similar problem. After a few hours on the PC the power
switches off and I cannot re-start the PC. The screen is the first to go, no
blue screen, just black and the only thing I can hear is the fan and hard
drive whining down. Try to re-boot the PC and it fails to power up. I've
replaced the fan above the chipset, had the power supply checked by PC repair
shop and they cannot find a fault. However the PC will re-start after 6-8
hours. Any idea's?

Many thanks

Something is overheating or failing. Find a better shop. They need to leave
it on long enough for it to shut down.
