Has anyone had any problems with PowerDesk 5.0? I have used it for many
years (even paid for it). Every couple of months I get one of those
"program not responding" error messages and have to reinstall to get it
working again. It's getting to be a real pain (it does this on both of my
computers). Suggestions?

I'm also a long time and very happy user of PowerDesk 5.0. The File
Synchronize feature is particularly handy (only available in the paid
version).

It has never crashed badly enough on my system to require a reinstall,
though it certainly has failed to respond occasionally. My guess is
that when it crashes while loading, it's trying to find a mapped network
drive or removable device that isn't available.

Check in your Event viewer to see if any problems show.

If you have recently installed Efax that could be the problem.
If this key exists:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\HotShellExt]@="{02040CD1-EF11-11D5-BC3F-0003473F5BF0}
try removing it.

Also quite a lot of useful stuff at http://www.v-com.com/support/

I know this is kind of late, but I thought I'd add one thing that might help
someone else. The problem you described occurs on rare occasions when something
else I have running creates a problem, usually memory-related. On my Win98SE
system I've found it's best to reboot. I've never had to re-install.
