Subject- My Docs & Shared Fldrs displyd in My Computer:
I have 2 computers set up with Win XP Pro SP1 set up.
On one computer when you go to "My Computer" under
the "Files Stored on this Computer" heading all My Doc
folders that you have NTFS permissions for plus
the "Shared" folder are displayed.
ie:* The admin acct "My Computer" shows the admin's My Doc
folder plus the My Docs folders for the other 4 users
and the Sharedfolder.
*One acct has permissions for its own plus 2 other
user's folders. So in its "My Computer" it displays
it own My Docs plus the other two users My Docs and
the Shared folder.
*With the other 3 accts when you go to "My Computer"
you just see their own and the Shared folder.
I like that. Thats the way I want it. The problem is on
the other computer under all users logins the only thing
you see in "My Computer" under the "Files Stored on this
Computer" heading is the Shared folder.
The only difference between them is one was an upgraded
from Win 98 and the other was a fresh XP install from a
wiped drive.
I have looked in "Control Panel", "Group Policy", the
registry and every other place I could think of to see if
I could change this but I can't figure it out.
Does somebody know how to change this?
 
Look at the differences in the permissions grants for
each profile. Navigate to Documents and Settings
and r-click on the top-level folders (user named profiles)
and select properties, then view the security tab.
If you are in simple sharing mode (bottom of View tab
of Folder Options) then you will need to do this when in
an F8 safe mode boot.
