Hello All

Please help out. I'm not a computer expert like you! Basically, here is what is going on. When I click Internet Explorer, it usually defaults to Hotmail (which is how I had it). Now, it is going to Default:Blank in the address bar. The page comes up with a ton of search features....and every time a pop up about spyware or my computer is infected. I've tried Ad Aware several times....there is one file that it cannot seem to get rid of. It comes up for location as: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Mai

Here is what I can get from Ad Aware

CoolWebSearch Object recognized
Type : RegValu
Data :
Rootkey : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHIN
Object : SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Mai
Value : HOMEOldS

If you can help me solve this I'd appreciate it. I don't think it's a virus, but more like something that changed a setting....once I had several spyware pop ups happening and it was a setting on my computer that was abled....that needed to be disabled

Please help
Rya

Also, even if i refresh a page...or type in another URL and go to it....I get popups about Spyware/AdWare. Please help me get rid of this!

Download and run Spybot - Search and Destroy.

Computers only work with the info you give them. If you don't feed the
and protect them they die

Yep. Hijackware. I think it was PC World that had conducted a survey and
found that out of a random sample of a few hundred Windows PCs, the average
system had 18 pieces of malware on it (spyware, adware, viruses, or worms).

If you are going to have the machine exchanging information with other
machines, it wouldn't hurt to invest in several adware/spyware/virus
eradication tools (well, multiple antivirus tools can be a bad idea). Few
applications are 100% effective.

Unzip - close *all* instances of IE & OE, hit the executable and
follow
the prompts.

You can also download Hijack This from here:

HiJack This is a program that simply searches for programs that run at
boot time, and checks for browser plug-ins. The results this program
gives you are generally just informative. Most of the programs it will
come up with are valid programs that you actually want running. You'll
have to go through the results and tell the program to delete unwanted
programs. If you can't figure out what some of the programs are, don't
just delete them, research them and/or post them so experts can let
you know what the program does. Just type the program name into google
which gets a decent answer pretty quickly.

Try downloading, installing and updating the
spyware removers from the links below. Run both of them.

Ad-aware

Spybot S&D

If these don't correct the problem, then get yourself a copy of
BHODemon, available at
http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm .

It does not need installing - simply unzip and run the EXE program. It
is easy to use. It will find the hijackware DLL files, and give you
the ability to disable them.

Hope this helps.
