O

old geezer in new world!

I'd bought a computer with an Elitegroup Socket A K7SEM
mainboard with a SiS 630/730 chipset that is working fine
for everyday use. My daughter, on the other hand, had
recently purchased Age of Mythology and the display
freezes after @ 10 mins. of play! I had talked to other
gamers and was advised that a more powerful graphics card
is in order. It just so happens that there is a card on
sale at the local computer store for @ $70.00. It is a
LeadtekGeForce MX4000 64MB Winfast A180BT . Now, my
question is: Would it be compatible with the system I
currently have? This particular card is NOT in the
Windows HCL. Any info on this would be greatly
appreciated! Thanx in advance.

Hi,

You must check the DC voltage for the AGP slot, for older mobo, the voltage
for the AGP slot is 5V & 3.3V whereby the new mobo is designed for 1.5 V AGP
only. Most of the new vedio cards (any brands and models) are desgned for
1.5V only.
So, if your mobo AGP use 5V & 3.3V AGP slot, you must look for older vedio
card.

Care: never insert a 1.5V vedio card into the 3.3V AGP slot as it cause
permanent damages to the vedio card.

Hi:

If you're asking about if it's compatible with your operating system, I
happened to use one for Windows XP Pro and it is working well, and now this
one has been retired to Windows Server 2003 which is also compatible with
the operating system.

Downloaded latest driver is recommended.

Hope this will help.
