My question is it possible to use ICS without assigning the host's IP
address to the default 192.168.0.1. The reason I am trying this is
because im trying to use my wireless laptop (connected to wireless
network) to give access to my wired desktop. The problem is that the
router used on the wireless network has already taken the 192.168.0.1
address and I cannot change it because it is in my neighbor's house
(college students saving money by sharing internet connection) My
laptop has XP Pro and desktop has XP home. Any help would be greatly
appreciated and If any additional info is required I will be more than
happy to provide.
Thanks, Ryan

forgot to ask: If this is not possible, is there some other way to
accomplish my goal of using my laptop's wireless connection to get
internet access on my desktop? I have tried bridging my wireless
connection with my LAN connection but this does not work. I no longer
have internet access on my laptop when I do this and i tried to force
compatability on my wireless card and still no luck. Thanks again -Ryan

Use a proxy server instead of ICS. A good free one is CCProxy from
http://www.youngzsoft.net/ccproxy/ If you want POP3 email as well, you will
have to install the email server as well.

I could not figure out how to do this on my computer (XP Pro), is it
possible. I got the proxy reccommended earlier to work but I have run
into a new problem with it, I am trying to run a playstation online
through this laptop as well and i couldnt figure out how to configure
the proxy. Thanks-ryan
