Is there a way to code a special format that will allow me to enter
date, in the following format, 100504, where it will translate int
10/05/04, without having to use the slashes to separate the numbers?
was thinking there may be a way to enter a special format that wil
operate similar to the SSN special format. I mean, what is the poin
of formatig the field for date if Excel requires you to type the / fo
the date to translate correctly! A user might as well leave the dat
cell general and just type the / since formating the date doesn'
necessarily cut down steps if you want to enter it the way I do....
:( Any suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated

Excel dates are stored as numbers. The point of formatting as a date is that
you can do arithmetic with the dates, not so you can more easily enter them.

As in, add and subtract.

You cannot do this with dates entered as text.
