Hello, I started up my pc this morning, and it wouldnt boot. I got
this message: "Hardware Initiative Failed, No hard disk detected press
G". I then pressed G, and it asked me for a boot up disc or something
like that. I then shut the system down, then restarted it to see what
would happen. It then booted up ok. So far, it has only done this once
today. What could this be? I have a Seagate 160 gb, Winxp pro sp2,
Asus K8v-se deluxe, 1 gb Ram. The system is only a couple months old.
Was told it may be the cable. I ran a diagnostic scan test through
Seagate's website and it was error free. So I dont know. Thanks in
advance.

Make sure the cable isn't loose.

It is probably not your drive, but have you backed up your important data?
Maybe you should.

Check your power connection to the drive. Exactly the same thing happened
last week to my slave drive and the power connector was not seated 100%. I
shoved it in real good and it is fine.

Thanks for the help, people. Sorry I didnt reply back sooner.

Would I have to be grounded to check just the power connection to it?
I am not familiar at all with these things. Knock on wood it only
happend that one time.. Thanks again :)

You should be ok not being grounded. while you are in there you could
check to see if your motherboard end is inserted correctly just incase
it is a little out.
