Positive & negitive numbers in conditional formatting statement

I know this will be a easy one for somebody, in a report field I would like
to highlight the money amounts
(clear/white) for zero, red for neg Number (money owed) and green for
credited money. Zero works great, but it seems that it would tell positive
from negitive numbers.
 
Sorry just the "title" of your post.

Are your working with a number field or a text field.

If number the CF will (should) work ok
