I hope this is the correct NG for this.
I am continually receiving port scans on 192.168.0.2
I have tried looking this up on the net with no success. My firewall is
SystemSuite 7 and I have contacted them and tech replied they didn't think
it was harmfull. Can anyone tell me what this constant scan is about?
Thanks
Doug

The IP address 192.168.0.2 can not be used from the Internet. This is
a "private" local IP address and is only available on your local
network/PC. Click on Start then Run. Enter CMD and click on okay. In
this Dos Prompt Window, enter IPCONFIG. This will show you the PC's
current IP address. If the IP address is 192.168.0.2, then you may
have a program which is doing a port scan. Run anti-virus checks and
anit-spyware scans. Clean off any virus/spyware that may be detected.

That's a IANA reserved block for private networks. I bet you're on that
network yourself.

Are you sure it's really a scan, and not normal broadcast traffic and
firewall software designed to make you feel like something is happening?
Tech support departments commonly call this sort of complaint "moron with
wannabe-firewall."

I think the moron comment could be done away with, that was

Yes, morons do often try to project their own shortcomings onto others. It
gives the a feeling of power and control over a world that's left them
behind, poor fools.

You can ignore them. As long as you have normal security procedures and
apps in place, they're meaningless. They could be anything from a kiddie in
college to a spammer to any number of other legitimate uses of the scan that
are flying constantly trhoughout the internet. It's considered "noise" to
those in the internet trenches.
198.169. ... is your own router-side IP and as long as your
router/gateway whatever is working, it's not exposed to the 'net and isn't
likely to be seen by anything until/unless you (your machine) looks for it.

In other words, it's background noise; nothing to be concerned about.
