Port conflict

Before XP, I was able to use software that required a
security device connected to the serial port, and another
software package that had the security device connected
to the parallel port. After XP, the software does not
seem to be able to read the security device, and thus
will not work. The parallel port still works for printers
but does not see the security device.

I would like to know how to get the system to read those
ports for security devices. I believe that the security
devices use an impedance type of check.

first, you are on a win2k group not xp. and those security devices often
had a driver that needed to be installed, you might check on that. maybe
you need an updated one. if the program using it read it directly maybe you
need to upgrade the program.
