When I am on the internet, I get this message that pops
up in the middle of the screen and says: Windows
Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconventience. If you were in the
middle of something the information might be lost.
Please tell Microsoft about this problem.

What is this and how do I get rid of it? I do not have a
virus as I have checked and checked and no virus. This
is aggrevating as it will sometimes knock you off the
website you are on.

I had the same problem...turned it was spyware causing it. goto to
download.com and download the free programs adaware.

run that software and deleted all instances of spyware and you should be
fine.

I agree with Rob B. I personally use Ad-aware and it is
very good. http://www.lavasoftusa.com The paid version
comes with ad-watch which is a very useful tool as it
asks for confirmation before ANY change is made to your
registry.

Also, a better virus software that is free is AVG.
http://www.grisoft.com The paid version for that is also
excellent but just as effective as the free version. You
can customize the tests and everything is excellent. I
had Norton & McAfee trying to find stuff. I found AVG and
it located 80 items that those two didn't. It also finds
trojans, hijackers, etc. Between AVG and Ad-Aware its the
perfect combination.

As a suggestion, I recommend System Mechanic 4 from iolo.
http://www.iolo.com It is a very powerful program and
does too much to list here. The firewall and virus
protection are included but I dont install it as it isn't
as good as AVG virus software.

For a firewall I recommend Sygate Personal Firewall. Its
free and most of all very effective. Enjoy!

I downloaded Ad-Aware and scanned my computer and fixed
the popup problems. Thanks so much!! I had been messing
with this for several weeks.
