Using Windows XP, OE and IE, 56K modem. A friend is sending me a large file
of photos, which is taking forever to download. Now I keep getting a box
saying: "Your POP3 server has not responded in 60 seconds. Would you like to
wait another 60 seconds for the server to respond?" Is there a way to set
the "not responded in 60 seconds" to a longer time limit? Or am I doomed to
sit here clicking on the 'wait' button?

In OE, click Tools, Accounts, select your email account, and click
Properties.
On the Advanced tab, there is a slide for setting the server timeout. Slide
it to the right to increase the time.

Stop using email to send large attachments...
POP and SMTP are meant for small text documents, not 2 MB Graphic
files.

If you both have an IM program (yahoo, msn or icq) use the file
transfer feature in these.
Or setup a temp FTP site, or use one of the many file storage sites
found on the internet. Much less hassle.
