Help! We just got a new computer with Windows XP. We
want to stop the pop ups that keep coming up on our
computer all the time. We have small children and some
of these are porn sites. Is there anyway we can do
this? Thank you for your help.

John

John,
The first thing to do is to scan your system for the possibility of
unknown\unwanted spyware or parasites that may be causing your problem(s).

You can do it by disabling the Messenger service (this is
not Windows Messenger!).

Goto:

Control Panel|Administrative Tools|Services

Right click "Messenger" and select properties. Stop the
service by clicking Stop and select Disabled for the
Startup type. Hope that is not too "technical" for you.

Disabling Messenger Service is bad advice as some anti virus applications
use this to warn the user that they are infected. The real problem is the
PC is wide open to the Internet.

The user needs a firewall.
