Pop ups

This has got to be a common problem. Something
called "popnav" tries to take over my opening screen then
I am slaammed with pop ups from e-bay, "top searches on
the net" and others selling "pop up" solutions or
cleaners, believe that or not.
Is there any software, or method - legitimate -- to
control, dump this garbage?

The popnav reference could be part of Norton software that may be trying to scan your email. if you have Norton istalled, open it and turn off email scanning and see if the problem still happens. As for the pop ups there are any number of stoppers. StopZilla is on that has a free trial. There is Avant browser that is free and works on top of IE and has a built in add blockeer. I use Avant and like it. Let me know about the popnav.
