pop ups are driving me crazy, don't know how to stop them
the spam blocker is in place but this is the stuff across
the bottom

Greetings Richard...

These 'pop ups' aren't being sent as SPAMM, they are most likely
coming through a Windows Service called Messenger (not Microsoft
Messenger... something different). Messenger is basically for system
administrators to let people on a network know if the system is going
down, etc. and does not need to be active on a normal home computer.

Unfortunately, it's defaulted to Automatically run, and some spammers
have been able to figure out how to 'broadcast' to any Messenger that
is running.

You can find a lot of different tweaks for XP, and there is also a fix
for this problem (sorry, I'd post the actual link tot he fix but for
some reason I can't get to the site right now... someone else may be
able to post it).

Look for Turning Off Messenger (I think that's how it's listed).

An easier solution is to turn on Internet Connection Firewall. These days,
no one should be using the Internet without a firewall.
