Commencing with the latest virus fiasco with XP, I get
the message that Windows cannot open files TFTP 9500,
44232, 788, 4004, 1764, 1764 and 2696. When I try to
find out what they are, Windows says it does not
recognize the files. Same time, my Norton no longer
allows live updates. Anyone out there having a similar
problem?

Without digging through any of the extensive literature on the worm, I
think what you are seeing is due to the worm still being present on your
system; it is trying to use the TFTP protocol to connect out. You need
to clean your system after ensuring you have the patch. There are a
slew of removal utilities available.

Part of the virus problem. Go to http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ and
download Stinger which gets rid of about 19 of the more recent in one pass.
Then, uninstall and reinstall your Nortons and keep it up to date, allowing
it to automatically search for and install updates in future.
