I want to know if there some possibility to show an element in a
presentation like a pop up.
For example i add a text box in my slide, but i want that this text
box only appears when I click on and object (a photo or an action
botton)is like a hyperlink but for a objet inside the same slide.
I tried with hyperlink, animation and actions bottom, but i cant.

I hope you understand my basic english and could give me a hand.

I have emailed you a sample presentation showing two ways
to do this. One way is to have an animation of a text box
that appears on a click. The other is to have the popup
box on a second slide and to hyperlink from it. You make
two identical slides, both with the picture and text
boxes, then on slide one delete the text box and make a
hyperlink to the next slide from the image.

Since seeing is believing, thought you would like to see
the files and play with them.

Sonia and Terry,
Thanks a lot for your help, but i tried this tips before and is not
exactly what i want.
The problem I have is that I have
to provided an entire slide for the pop up, and i dont want that.
Is it possible to create a small icon within the
slide, have it link to the pop up? (The effect I'm
looking for is that the presenter clicks on an icon, the
pops up and show his information and then at the end
pop out and returns to the same slide or the next.)
This is because, if i use the animation or the hyperlink i have no
chance to not show that slide, you get it?
I tried hiding the slides with the pop up that i want to show, and
with an hyperlink to that hide slide, it almost work but when i show
the hidden slide with the hyperlynk it automatically show the next
slide even if this one is hidden to.
Any idea? i dont know if you understand what im trying to do, is
something like a web site, where you can choose what information want
to show.

anyway a preciate your help, if you have any other idea, plase let me
know.

regards

Sebastian Perez

If you are using PPT 2002 or 2003, you can do this with triggers. If you are
using one of the older versions, try this twist on Sonia and terry's advice:

Create a custom show that contains only the slide with your popup graphic.
Link to that show instead of directly to the slide. When you set up the
link, set it to "Show and Return". This will set things up so that the order
of the slides is what you want. In addition, if the slide is exactly
identical to your original slide, your audience won't know that you went
anywhere.

Did you read through the link I provided? I believe it does what you have
described. In what way does it not?

I think Sonia's solution does what you want, but if it doesn't, you might
want to use VBA. A simple VBA script can easily be written to pop up a
little message when an icon is clicked.

The solution that Sonia mention can work for text, but i actually need
to do that with graphs and pictures.

About of Kathryn idea, i Used PPT 200 so i dont have the "triggers",
and the other tip, could it work, i find the "show and return"
checkbox but is not activated, i cant click on it. Anyone know why? Im
working on that.

An finally, with your tip David, I never used before VBA (Visual Basic
in Aplications i suposed?) I have installed this module in the
powerpoint but i dont know how to use it. Some "VBA for dummies"
online??? ;-), if someone know the right srcipt, can send it an i
figure out how to put it on work.

All you guys thanks a lot for your time an patience, i know is not
easy understand my "TARZAN" style english.

Check out Example 6-4 on my Web site:

Click on Examples by Chapter and Chapter 6. I think that basically does
what you want. As far as VBA for Dummies, the book does exist, but it
doesn't really cover too much stuff like this in PowerPoint. My book is
the only VBA book that is specific to PowerPoint.

You will only get the "Show and Return" option if you are linking to a
custom show. Set up the custom show as I mentioned in the earlier post, When
you go to set up your hyperlink, select "place in this document". Custom
shows are at the very bottom of the link list in the middle of the dialog.
Select your custom show and the "Show and Return" check box will be come
available.
