In a few sites I'm trying to post and this message alwas appears:

"pop-up window was blocked"

When I click on "new post" or "post reply".

This message use to appear a few times. Now it's all the time

I disabled my windows xp firewall, ZoneAlarm, Norton AntiVirus and Norton Personel Firewall and this message still appears and I can't post.

I can't send an e-mail to microsoft because for some reason that doesn't seem to work either.

Does anyone know why I get this message?

Where abouts does this message appear? Is it in a pop-up box, or in Internet Explorer? If you could post an image of the message it might give us a clue.

Have you run "ad-aware" and an anti virus on your PC?

If it is a little yellow bar that comes up at the top of internet explorer then i know what you mean

you have windows service pack 2 installed? the security centre for it makes that message appear.

The message appears in internet exployer V6 at the lower left corner of the screen.

I'm not sure if I have windows service pack 2 installed. I could try to find out if I have to, just not sure how.

I never ran "ad-aware" on my PC. I updated and did a virus check yesterday or the day before with norton anti virus and it didn't find a virus.

Download, install & update Ad-aware ... there is a nice new version, Ad-aware SE personal, which is free. Follow th link in my sig'.

NEVER never turn off any security such as Firewall or AV programs. Remember, antivirus programes do NOT stop malware, you need the likes of SpywareBlaster & Ad-aware to do that job.

I scanned with adaware and "pop-up window was blocked" stoped appearing.

But it started appearing again.

WHY?

And for some reason word 1994 doesn't want to open. In "properties", "compatibility" tab under "compatibility mode" windows xp doesn't appear in the drop down list

It's like something is going on in windows xp, updates or something.

And sometimes this message appears in the middle of my screen:

"Messanger Service

Message from SPYWARE ADVISOR to USER on 8/18 2004 11:51:53 AM

IMPORTANT Alert Message: Wednesday, August 18

YOUR COMPUTER MAY BE INFECTED WITH UNAUTHORIZED SPYWARE PROGRAMS"

Then it shows me what to do.

Why does this message keep appearing?

Because you're infected with Spyware ... and you have the "messenger service" running ... to disable that "service" do this ...

for Windows XP Home
Click Start->Settings ->Control Panel
Click Performance and Maintenance
Click Administrative Tools
Double click Services Scroll down and highlight "Messenger"
Right-click the highlighted line and choose Properties.
Click the STOP button.
Select Disable in the Startup Type scroll bar
Click OK

for Windows XP Professional;
Click Start->Settings ->Control Panel
Click Administrative Tools
Click Services
Double click Services Scroll down and highlight "Messenger"
Right-click the highlighted line and choose Properties.
Click the STOP button.
Select Disable in the Startup Type scroll bar
Click OK

Download, install, run & update SpywareBlaster ... it does NOT scan or clean your system ... but it does a dam good job of stopping them getting in, in the first place.

You cannot rely on any one product for protection from these little "nasties" ... we NEED a good Firewall, AV, spyware detection program (Ad-Aware) and some common practices when dealing with emails.

I scanned with ad-aware. Then I deleted the critical stuff the scan found I even deleted the other stuff that was found. Spyware blaster is enabled, both are updated.

Why am I still getting the message "pop up window was blocked"?

I fallowed those steps just above. Then I updated and scanned with ad-aware. Enabled spyware blaster, it's updated too. And I still get the message "a pop up window was blocked".

All the features in norton personel firewall are enabled except for "firewall" because I use ZoneAlarm instead.

I keep getting intrusion attempts, like 5 times per day

Instrusion: MSSQL_Stack_Overflow.

What is it?

... turn off the notification of intrusion alerts.

ZA is just doing its job. ;)

Knowone knows why I keep getting this message when I try to post in the newsgroups from microsoft.com?

I downloaded a wallpaper. I should of never done that.

Now everytime I try to scan with ad-aware this message appears:

"This system is shutting down. Please make sure to save all work in progress and log-off. Any unsaved changes will be lost. This shut down was initiated by NT Authority\system.

Time before shut down 00:00:60

Message

Windows most now restart because the remote procedure call (RPC) service terminated unexpectably."

I thought spyware blaster was suppose to protect me from this.

How can fix this problem?

Well I'm not posting any threads in these forums anymore.

You guys stopped responding with know reasons.

Why don't you guys just say?:

"I have know idea why this message appears".

Cuz I don't know what's going on.

Chris
