Hi,
Can anyone help me please ? When I hover my mouse over an mp3 file, it
used to show the Author, Album title, File Size and Bitrate. Now it
shows Comments instead of bit rate !! How can I change my settings so
that the bit rate is shown in the pop up window ? I cant remember
consciously changing any settings !!

TIA

Jasper

Hi Jasper,

Click Start, Run and type REGSVR32 /i SHELL32
Restart Windows (if necesssary) and see the infotips appears correctly (with bitrate)

Ramesh,

It worked ! Many thanks. In a few words can you please explain exactly
what the command did and are there other options available with this
command ?

Manual procedure was explained by Keith Miller in another XP group. BTW, it fixes the infotip settings and (re)sets mp3 as an 'audio' type in the registry.

Hi Jasper,

Thank you for posting!

I am glad to hear that Ramesh's suggestion worked on your computer. The
command "REGSVR32 /i Shell32" is used to register the system file
Shell32.dll. Shell32 is a system file related to the User Interface
settings. It seems that this issue occurs because this system file has
incorrect register information in the Registry keys. REGSVR32 /i will read
the register information (like DCOM registration) from the related DLL file
and put it into Registry keys.

For the other options for this command, please "RESVR32 /?" (without
quotation marks), it will popup the window and explain the other options
for this command.

I hope that the above information is helpful.

Thank you for choosing Microsoft and have a nice day!

Thanks & Regards,
