The cable company I use does not support Outlook. I keep
getting POP. messages to put in my name and password
every minute or so. Cable company says I have to use
Outlook Express. How do I turn off Outlook and make
Express dominant. Keep getting errors when I attempt to
switch over and mail keeps going to Outlook

What version of Outlook do you have? What is the exact text of the error
message you're getting? Outlook will work fine for receiving mail from your
cable company - it's just that the company doesn't want to go to the trouble
of telling you how to configure it properly. However, if Outlook Express
can receive your mail, so can Outlook.

Is the box for authentication checked? uncheck it.
if unchecked then check it.

Let your ISP walk you through setting up OE then import the settings into
OL.

When using two e-mail messaging programs for a POP mail account, they will both download your
messages while they are opened. Only one program should be running if both are configured for the
same accounts.

You will need to make Outlook Express your default e-mail program by doing the following:
Go to Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Programs tab -> select "Outlook Expres" next to E-mail
This will ensure your other applications use Outlook Express instead of Outlook to send mail.

To only receive messages in Outlook Express, make sure to remove the accounts in Outlook and exit the
program.
