Point DNS Server to Itself?

Hi,

I read on an old post (can't find it anymore) that the DNS server should
point to itself.
And that some default installation record has to be replaced with a ".".

Also, the post recommended that the DNS server configurations not use the
Internet connectivity providers DNS1 and DNS2 records, and that the DNS
server will find the best ones by itself.

Anyone know what I'm talking about? Please point me to some articles
regarding this.

Thanks,

Yes point the DNS server to itself in the properties of TCP/IP.

You will need to delete the "." (dot) forward lookup zone that is created by
default in order to set up forwarders.

You should use your ISP's DNS server as forwarders only.

Funny when simple answers seem so genius, almost like how to move a mail
store. It works, but not how the M$ docs show it to be. Isn't that always
the case?
