I know how to use Excel to get the PMT., i.e. a loan for $10.000, 5 years,
7% interest rate. How do I use a regular hand held calculator to get the
PMT or do I need a special calculator?

One can certainly do it with any calculator that can do exponents. See
XL Help ("PV") for the formula used in the financial calculations. You
can solve for pmt.

What is XL Help (PV)? Please check your reference you stated below. When
I click on the reference, it goes to my email not the internet.

Excel Help (from the Help menu, or type F1), search for subject "PV"
(it's a function).

??? I didn't give a reference in my reply...

If you're talking about the article reference to your post, don't know
what your version of OE does to it (I've never used OE in any version),
but clicking it in my newsreader brings up your post.

If you're talking about your email address, OE probably is supposed to
bring up a new email window.

If you're talking about something else, please describe it further.
