Anyone know anything about "pmakpart.exe"

It comes up and freezes I think when I am trying to install software and
Windows XP on a new hard drive on a HP Pavilion xt375. Or is it just
formatting the drive?

There's no other mention of it on the web. I suspect it's malware. Run
an online av scan and see if anything's found. Try one of these free
online virus scans:

This one has a choice of a Quick or a Complete check. Always use the
complete check.
