Of late, I have been trying to delete a certain file. I downloaded it a
a free mmog (massive multiplayer online game) trial called planetsid
but it would not work. Every time I would try to enter it, it woul
hook my computer. When I would ctrl+alt+del and get out of C drive b
force, only my background would be there. When this happened, I coul
not log out of my user (Tom). Every time it would result in a forc
shutdown by holding down the power button for 5 seconds.

Today I tried once again to delete it. I came up with the same proble
I have had many times before. This time though, I got slightl
irritated (hence the post). I have tried many different approaches t
deleting it. Some more direct than others. I can select it, but if
try to see the properties, computer locks up. If I search for it, usin
the "search" program under start, once it finds the file, or I suppos
it finds the file because it says "2 files found" and there it stop
working. Of course, I end up having to shut down the computer wit
force. Please help me delete this file. It would me greatl
appreciated.

Tom, have you tried starting XP while pressing F8, and starting in Safe Mode
with Command
Prompt. Use the "cd" command to get to the directory where your file is
stored, and then delete it. If it is protected, use the "attrib" command to
clear its attributed then delete it. If it comes up after this treatment,
something is creating it after startup and you have big problems.

(If you don't know how to run command prompt stuff, back to the books!)
