plug and play

does anybody know why my windows xp doesn't reconize my plug and play for my
joy stick and racing wheel??? i had the geek sguad over to fix it. they spent
to hours. said they didn't know, and said that will be 170.00 dollars...
 
There are several possible reasons. A few are listed below.
1. Most USB devices require that the drivers be loaded befor you connect
them to the USB port.
2. You may need updated drivers.
3. Your user account may not have the required permissions to install such
things.
4. A set of drivers is incorrectly installed, and preventing the correct
install until they are uninstalled (Not Deleted)

$170 ! Too funny! "Geek squad" indeed. I hope you weren't dumb enough to
actually pay them.
 
If the joystick / racing wheel use the joystick (aka gameport) connection,
then this is not "plug and play." You must manually configure then in the
Control Panel Game Controller section.

Since they didnt fix it you dont pay.

Lets say your toilet got clogged up and you couldnt sit on your throne
in the morning so you call in a plumber. 2 hours later the toilet is
still backed up and the plumber asks for $170. Are you saying you would
pay the plumber for not fixing your problem?

to hours. said they didn't know, and said that will be 170.00 dollars... i should recap. the geek sguad are techs from best buy. and yes they do have a great scam. charge you 129.00 just to go to your house. he looked at the internet for a quick fix.{like i already did} couldn't find one. told me not sure what it is. charged me 170.00 and then told me for 250.00 he will reformat my hard drive. not sure if that would fix it either.no i will not pay 170.00 he fixed nothing. he did manage to uninstall mcafee anti virus, robo form??? he said he didn't like robo form or mcafee. i called his boss. he was only interested in getting 170.00???i wrote the B.B.B
