PLEASE, PLEASE HELP!! (C00D1197: Cannot play the file, Network Tab Not Working!)

C00D1197: Cannot play the file! Please Help!
Hi,

I am running WMP 10! I can not use it any more to stream any kind of media
off the net! The error I keep getting is C00D1197! According to Microsoft
support page I am suppose to go to the "Network" tab and select all the
protocol check boxes. I am unable to do this because the "network" tab
appears to be locked out for some reason. When I click on it, nothing
happens!

Everything else work! WMP works fine to play media saved locally on my PC.

Please Help! I am desperate! Thanks.

P.S. I reinstalled the player again but same thing! I also used system
restore, it did not help!
 
There is no prior! My PC came with version 10! After 2 minutes on the phone,
Toshiba said that I should do a hard recovery! They did not even try to
help. I'll tell you, this is the last time I am buying anything from them!
Hell, this is the last time I am buying Microsoft. I am going to try my luck
with Apple!
 
Are you sure that your firewall is not blocking WMP?
When you say "locked out" does that mean it is disabled or you just can't
click it?
Also check the Internet Settings panel in to control panel to make sure that
you are not using a proxy server. It can screw things up.
If all else fails, downgrade to WMP9.

And PLEASE, stop using the words PLEASE, or DESPERATE!!! It is natural
human tendency to only read the messages that are clean and free of excess
emotional noise!
