"please insert disk" message although CD already in drive

There are several posts describing the following scenario, but without solution

Although CD is already in drive, Windows asks you to insert it - unless the CD is already in the drive at bootu

I got it to work now (Windows XP Pro). Unfortunately I made 2 changes at the same time, so I don't know which one did the trick

In msconfig, I disabled on the services ta
1. Creative Services for CD ROM Access (comes with Creative Jukebox
2. C-Dilla CDAC11BA (Macrovision rights management component that gets silently installed with some programs and is supected to be spyware. Very difficult to remove completely; there are several other posts around this

Hope this helps someone. It took me hours and hours to get the CD Drive to behave properly again.

Hope this helps someone. It took me hours and hours to get the CD
Drive to behave properly again.

Had the same problem with Nero Burning Rights which is installed with
Nero 6, and was setting an admin account as guest privileges. I had no
idea that it was there until I was examining add/remove programs.
