Does anyone know how I can free space from one drive to another? My C drive
is full but my other one is empty and i need to free space for a printer i
need to install.
Is it possible to move programs from one drive to another?

Not without uninstalling and re-installing - do you use the default location
for My Documents? If so, move that. Just right-click on the "My Documents"
icon, click on "Properties" and choose "Move".....

need to clarify if you
are referring to 2 physical
harddrives or 2 partitions on
a single hd.

what sizes are they?
what format are they?

if either are ntfs then
you could compress them
to squeeze a bit more room
out of them.as well...

You can move data files, but not programs. The problem is that almost all
programs are not simply a single file or even a bunch of files. Besides the
files that constitute them, they also have, and need, many entries referring
to them and where they are located--in the registry and elsewhere.

So if you try to move a program, those pointers will all be wrong and the
program won't work. There is software that purports to find and change those
pointers (for example, the freeware COA2.exe) but in my experience these
don't always work perfectly. It's much better and safer to uninstall from
its existing location, and reinstall in the new one.

The place to start is with clearing out temporary files and moving the temp
folders to the other drive. It's not at all unusual for XP to have well
over a gigabyte of temporary files, including temporary internet files, on
the C drive.

The easiest place to start is with ccleaner. www.ccleaner.com Install
it - pay attention and don'[t select the Yahoo toolbar if you don't want
it - and let it delete everything the first time (unless you want to keep
cookies). Rerun it for each user account. It can take a little while on
the first run.

Then start Internet Explorer and go to Tools, Internet Options, and choose
Settings in the Temporary Files section. Choose Move Folder and move it to
a spot you've created on the other drive. And, reduce the space; it's
normally quite large. I set it to 25 meg.

Doing this may clear enough space for the printer driver.

As to programs, you must generally uninstall and reinstall them, pointing
the install to the other drive. This is because the install is much more
than the files, it's many registry entries. It's simply not practical or
reliable to try to change all the references yourself.

Yes, by uninstalling them, and installing them to the other, roomier drive.
You might be able to free space faster easier by moving any data files (ie,
files that aren't required to make programs run, like documents, etc.) to
the emptier drive, especially if you do a lot of downloads.

The System Volume Information is the folder in which WinXP's System
Restore feature stores information used to recover from errors. By
default, WinXP sets aside a maximum of 12% of the partition's size for
storing System Volume Information, but the amount of space set aside for
this purpose can be adjusted by the user. Start > All Programs >
Accessories > System Tools > System Restore > System Restore Settings,
select the pertinent partition and click Settings.

If you don't want to use System Restore at all, simply turn off the
System Restore feature (Start > All Programs > Accessories > System
Tools > System Restore, System Restore Settings) and reboot. This will
delete all of your Restore Points, freeing up the hard drive space.

Another great waster of space can be the Recycle Bin. By default,
this takes up to 10% of your hard drive capacity. On today's large hard
drives, this is tremendously wasteful. It can be set to a lower limit
by right-clicking the desktop Receycle Bin icon, selecting Properties,
and using the slider bar to lower the maximum size to something more
reasonable -- 1% to 2% should be more than enough space.

Looks like perhaps they forgot to renew their domain earlier today and they
got it fixed.

Not for me, it isn't.
