I am trying to connect 2 computers to each other with a hub and ethernet
cords. Each PC runs Windows XP and has access on it's own to the internet. I
am simply trying to share files without having to email them.
I have been through the Networking Wizard and everything looks good. When I
try to "View computers in the workgroup" on one computer I can see that
computer in the group but not the other. On the other computer (a laptop) I
could see that computer on the workgroup, today there is nothing there.
I have diabled the WXP firewall and set the Norton firewall to allow the
other PC to access it.
I downloaded a trial verson of a program that advertises to fix this sort of
problem. When it tries to access the network via a router it says the lines
are not connected. I have a Linksys 5-port hub connected to both PCs and a
printer. All lights are green.
Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?
