this Compaq was bought in 98, been upgraded with memory and new HD but I just
know it's bout time for it to croak.
This morning all I did to it was adjust the power settings b/c my bf doesn't
turn it off at night and I was trying to save it a bit.. but someone then
told me that turning it on and off is actally worse for it... so I don't know
if that is the problem..
But, we've been trying to startup now and it's on about the 10th go... a
blue screen does come up for a nanosecond, this is what we can gather:
Stop C000221 has failed {Bad Image checksum} shell header is Possibly Corrupt
these are just the blips we can make out...
I've tried starting in safemode and that didn't work, it just kept
rebooting, tried to go to "last known good configuration", just rebooted
again.. trying to boot from disc now, tried once but I don't know the
password for the administrator.... we never used one! Also tried debugging,
that didn't do anything either..
then under that last error box... this one came up:
User Interface failure
to logon user interface.dll failed to load
contact your system administrator to replace dll or restore
