Hi all,

I tried to install Win XP Prof in my system and after the 2nd reboot I get
this error messages: Error: SXS.DLL Syntax error in manifest or policy file
"H:\I386\asms\1000\msft\windows\gdiplus\gdiplus.man" on line 4. Error:
Installation failed: H:\I386\asms. Error message: A component's file does
not match the verification information present in the component manifest.
I am installing from drive K: into partition L:, so H: is not even used
although it does exist on my system. Installing from H: does not fix it, the
same error messages occur but now with the mentioning of drive I:.

After the errormessages the system reboots again, so the system gets into a
perpetual cyclus.

Can anybody help me out?

Thanks in advance.
With kind regards,

Fokke Nauta

The error message mentiond in the above article, "Manifest parse invalid at
the top level of the document", differs from the error message I received
(SXS.DLL Syntax error in manifest or policy file
"H:\I386\asms\1000\msft\windows\gdiplus\gdiplus.man" on line 4). As a matter
of fact, there is not even a "Vctrl.man"-file on my CD.

This is a common error when trying to install the pirated version of xp that
has not been burned to the cd properly. Or when someone burned a copy of a
real xp cd and did not do it correctly.
Is this a real xp cd?

Indeed, it isn't. Somebode gave me a copy of an XP CD, so I could try it to
see how it works.
So I have to purchase the official CD, I'm afraid.

Only install Windows XP with a legimate, original CD and Product Key.
Windows XP can only be installed and activated on one computer using
the same Product Key (license).
