Hi all,

I'm running Win 2000 on a desktop and a laptop and both
generate a svchost.exe error ten minutes after going
online. When this happens I'm unable to copy, cut & paste,
etc.

I've installed Service Pack 4 and still no joy. The moment
I make use of Automatic Update for Windows, the svchost
error is generated and thus no download takes place.

Please advise.

Thanks!

.
Run through the following and see if this doesn't stop
the demon. START--RUN--and enter %windir%\system32\drivers
and then cursor down to find the "SVCHOST.EXE" file. If
there, delete it ! and then reboot and see if that doesn't
cure the problem. This information was obtained from
checking out several sources on the Symantec.com web site.

It sure did the trick for me.

Had the same problem with you sometime ago. Solved it
with this execulatable:

Windows2000-KB823980-x86-ENU.exe

which I downloaded from the Microsoft site (can't remember
how I came across it-probably did a search in Google or
something).

Best of luck
