Hi

I have a huge problem. We have a database to keep track of "windscreen
repairs", and one of the employees, while adding a new job, deleted the
number which was in the "autonumber" field by accident, and now it wont let
us go in to add another job or do anything. I tried going into the
clientsTable and it shows that theres a line that says #deleted all the way
through all the fields? I also tried changing the format from AutoNumber to
text, but it says "properties cannot be edited"

Please help me, as the business cannot function without this database.

Thank you kindly

Melissa

1. Make a copy of the database file in case your attempts to fix it make it
worse.

2. Try a compact/repair

3. If that doesn't work, have a look here:

If all else fails, you might need to restore the database from your most
recent backup. You do have a recent backup, right?

The AutoNumber value cannot be deleted without deleting the actual record.
If the record is still there then pressing ESC on the computer where the
record was tampered with ought to do the trick. From your description
though I suspect that the record has indeed been deleted but this would not
explain why you can't add another record. Are there any other symptoms?

Hi Keith

The record is deleted, unfortunately. I also dont understand why i cannot
add another record.

I have not found any other symptons as yet, i have tried to delete the row
in the table which says #deleted #deleted all the way through, but still not
working?

If you close the table and then re-open it then the #Deleted record should
disappear. What steps are you taking to add a new record and what error
message(s) do you get? Remember, we can't *see* your database :-)
