My keyboard & mouse works well on DOS mode but totally disabled on WinXP
log-on screen. I can't choose a user because my mouse doesn't move,
pressing Ctrll+Alt+Del doesn't doesn't do anything. The system is not
hanging because when I press the power button, it willl do hibernation. I
tried to go to safe mode but i'm also stuck on the log-on screen without
keyboard & mouse response.

How can I get my K/B & mouse work?

My configuration:

Microstar K7T266 motherboard
AMD Athlon XP Processor
512 MB RAM
80GB Hard drive
Windows XP Professional

Please help,

Garry

Is it a USB keyboard/mouse? Have you tried a different
KB/Mouse? Try this: When you're booting up press F8
after the POST (or after the system logo screen stops
showing. Keep hitting it until you see a scrren that
gives you the option of booting into safe mode. Choose
that. When you're system starts up (if you can get there)
reinstall mouse/KB from the mmc.

This really pizz me off. I bought a new harddrive and installed windows XP
on it. Upon reaching the "Welcome to Setup screen" where my keyboard &
mouse stops responding. I tried using serial mouse instead and it go
through with the installation. This is what confuses me, on the
installation stage where xp prompts me to enter users, my keyboard again
stops responding leaving the mouse working but I can't continue installation
without entering a username. I tried few keyboards except a usb one cause i
don't have it handy and they all give same result. I don't understand why a
new installation gives me this kind of problem while my keyboard works fine
on DOS mode.

Any other clue?

It might be the PS2 port on the MOBO. If you are geting
no problems on a serial mouse, but the PS2 is glitching
the system I doubt it's a software problem.
