I have Office 2002. I installed in error 2003 Outlook Service Pack. Outlook
was working weird so I went to Control Panel to uninstall Outlook 2003. It
wiped out all of my Outlook! Of course, I haven't done a backup since Jan.
I am considering paying the money for MS phone support but want to make sure
there is a way to retrieve the data first before I am charged $35 and they
tell me w/i 2 minutes that I am out of luck. Has anyone out there heard of
anyone ever retrieving their personal folders, calendar, contacts, inbox?

Look for a file(s) with a .pst extension. None of the Office programs ever
uninstalls the data created by the program. (Note - be sure to turn on
searching hidden/system files.)

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

I found the .pst files. I didn't find one for inbox. However, I noticed the
icon next to file name was 2003 Outlook not 2002 Outlook. If I reinstall
2002 Outlook and try to use 2003 data, will I be back in the same boot I was
in a couple of hours ago?

You won't becuase all your mail folders are contained WITHIN the pst file.

Should be OK as long as you didn't convert the 2002 pst file to a 2003
Unicode format
