it must be networking hell day cuz im trying to do the same thing, and
running into a lot of problems, for a seemingly "easy" process.
I have DSL at home and im trying to connect to a machine at my office that
connects to the internet via modem. Both run XP, I currently have both
machines here and i've been f***ing with this for hours. I dont have static
IP addresses and ive already set work to let home specify its own IP address.
do I have to adjust workgroup settings? I have a LAN at home too so how big
of a nightmare is this going to be.Norton picked up that I was trying to dail
in once but thats it and I told it that it was ok. Love it when my computer
protects me from myself. Looking in the help files it appears that you have
to turn your firewalls off to connect, is that correct? if so how large of a
security issue is that? and WTF is "virtual desktop" (in accessories,
communications) and is/how is it related to the VPN connection im trying to
create? ohh yeah and my A/C just broke - which was directly connceted to me
cracking my first beer. any help, or vallium, you can thow my way would be
greatly appreciated.
